Why convert WebP to PNG instead of keeping it as WebP?

Does converting from WebP to PNG lose any quality?
If the source WebP was saved in lossless mode, no, since PNG is also lossless and the pixel data carries over exactly. If the source WebP was saved lossy, which is common for photos, that compression loss already happened when the WebP was created and converting to PNG afterward cannot recover it; PNG simply stops any further loss from this point on.
