What happens to the corners when I rotate to a custom angle?
Rotating to an angle other than a multiple of 90 degrees leaves empty corners, since the canvas has to enlarge to fit the tilted image. Fill those corners with a background colour, or turn on crop to original frame to trim back to the starting size and lose the corners instead.
How do you straighten a slightly tilted photo?
A photo taken a few degrees off level, common with a handheld shot of a document, a horizon or a building, needs a small custom angle rather than a full 90 degree turn. Drag the custom angle slider a few degrees in either direction while watching the preview against a straight reference line, such as a horizon or a wall edge, until it reads level, then crop to the original frame to trim the enlarged corners the small rotation leaves behind.
Rotate or flip, what is the difference?
Rotating turns the whole image around a centre point, changing which way is up. Flipping mirrors the image left to right or top to bottom without turning it, useful for correcting a photo that came out mirrored from a front facing camera, or for adjusting which direction a subject faces in a layout. The two controls work independently, so a photo can be both rotated and flipped in the same pass.

Why is my photo still sideways after I download it from my phone?
Some apps ignore a photo's saved rotation data. This tool reads that data and applies it before you make any further changes, so the download matches what you see on screen.
Can I rotate and flip at the same time?
Yes, rotation and flipping are independent controls and can both be applied to the same image before download.
Will custom angle rotation lose image quality?
There is a small amount of softening from the resampling any non 90 degree rotation requires, similar to what any photo editor produces for the same operation.
Does a 90 or 180 degree rotation lose any quality?
No, those exact multiples of 90 degrees just rearrange whole pixels with no resampling needed, so the result is pixel for pixel identical in quality to the source.
What does crop to original frame actually do?
It trims the canvas back down to the image's starting width and height after rotating, cutting off the empty corners a custom angle rotation leaves rather than keeping the enlarged canvas with those corners filled in.
Can I rotate several photos the same way in one go?
